Podcast Week

Social Media Interview

This week we had to interview an expert on the topic of social media. However, we didn't just have to interview them, but we had to do it in podcast form. Before this class I had never made a podcast, nor have I ever thought about making one. On the bright side it was an amazing opportunity to learn technology skills and I faced it head on. I learned one how to record just audio which sound simple enough but there's a lot of aspects that need to be taken account. Then I had to insert the audio into Pod Bean and of course do a little snipping and editing of the audio to try and make it sound better. Now it's no professional podcast but I am proud of how it turned out.

Following with that I had to interview an expert in social media. I chose to interview one of my friends who is now a Graduate student at Northern Illinois University. For his bachelor's he studied Communications and Journalism so I knew he would be a perfect fit for this interview as he had to do a lot of work with social. He also has his own content creation page as well which he work very hard in running. I created of list of ten questions and then due to the time limit I made sure to highlight the most important questions that I wanted to be able to ask. He answered the questions thoroughly and straight to the point. Some examples of the question's I had asked are:

1. What strategies do you use to actively engage with your audience and welcome meaningful interactions within the comments?

2. Which social media channel do you find to be the most successful with promoting?

3. What troubles do you run into with posting on social media?

4. What resources do you use in helping create posts or help go off your ideas?

Needless to say, this week was a learning curve for me, and I found it to be very beneficial. With my major being in Marketing and knowing how big of role social media play's part in my future career it is nice to be able to hear from other's on the topic. Allowing myself to really take in the questions I asked and hearing the responses truly teaches me more on the subject of social media and some of the thing's i might run into in the future.

Social Media's connection with Mental Health

Is there a connection between social media and mental health? The answer to that question is yes and as technology grows and social media platforms progress the more individuals are aware of the connection.      On a personal level I have first-hand come to realize how social media can affect one's mental health. I remember when I first got on social media, I was constantly comparing myself to other females on the platform and wished that I could look like how they did. Then I was fixated on how many likes I got on each of my posts. Social media was destroying my mental health and self-esteem day in and day out. I would constantly look at my phone to see if I had any notifications from someone trying to follow me or liking one of my posts. However, I made changes and over the years since then I have made sure to take time away from social media by completely deleting my accounts and refocusing in on me when I started to feel the negative impact again. Social media ...

Marketing With TikTok

TikTok was founded in 2016 and created as a social media platform for short videos. TikTok has become one of the fastest growing media apps with having 100 million users within the first year and 1.56 billion users in 2024. Now, TikTok has become all the rage with constant dance trends and so much more and has even been brought up in the political world for security reasons. Needless to say, TikTok has grown substantially and is a wonderful way to market your business.   TikTok is primarily used by individuals ages 18 to 24 with males leading by 52% of the app’s users. Since 2016 TikTok has grown to be the 5th most popular social media platform. On this platform 38% of users have college degrees and or some form of college experience. Users on the app typically spend 95 minutes per day and around 34 hours per month. Now that is a lot of time spent on one social media app which is great for content creators and businesses. Following that the best days to post on t...

Easter Sunday

Easter Sunday is very important to my family and especially important to me. It marks the day Jesus Christ is resurrected from the dead. It shows his unwavering love us all and the sacrifice through this time. For me Easter Sunday is more than just seeing family and getting baskets full of essentials I need or candy that I truthfully do not need. It is a time to truly stand still and think about what all Jesus has done for me personally and everyone in the world.      To follow with that on Easter Sunday I started my day off by going to church and worshipping god. Then I continued my day by going home and helping my six-year-old sister search for all eighty eggs the easter bunny had placed all around our house. Then once we finally found all of them, we sat and opened our easter baskets which were filled with all sorts of goodies. As the day continued my dad, stepmom, little sister and I headed over to my great grandma's house to have lunch and allow ...
