    TikTok was founded in 2016 and created as a social media platform for short videos. TikTok has become one of the fastest growing media apps with having 100 million users within the first year and 1.56 billion users in 2024. Now, TikTok has become all the rage with constant dance trends and so much more and has even been brought up in the political world for security reasons. Needless to say, TikTok has grown substantially and is a wonderful way to market your business.   TikTok is primarily used by individuals ages 18 to 24 with males leading by 52% of the app’s users.        Everyone knows YouTube as a video-based platform. YouTube has roughly 2.49 billion monthly users and has become the second largest search engine. The total number of hours spent on YouTube each day adds up to be 1 billion hours. That is a huge number of hours amongst everyone worldwide. YouTube has more of a split audience with males leading by 9.8%. In regard to audience this platform is mainly used by ages 18-49.  Needless to say, YouTube has made a name for itself over the years.      Now that we have and overview of YouTube lets discuss, "How do you market a business with YouTube?".        Some of you may be wondering; who still uses Pinterest? The answer to that question is Pinterest has more than 465 million monthly users. Now, out of the 465 million users females make up 67% of that amount.        Following up with that lets discuss what truly drives individuals to use Pinterest. If you have never been on the app before the main components of it are pins, boards, browse tab, and watch tab. When you first download the app, it will ask standard questions and ask you to select your given interest so it can fit your feed to topics you would like to see.   Snapchat has become younger generations especially ages 18-24 daily communication app. With snapchat having the chat feature younger generations are more drawn to use this app as their way to text whoever they want. Not only that but it allows individuals to be able to send snap which basically are either photos or videos.       In Chapter 1 there are various things that should be no surprise to us as students given the generation that we have grown up in. For example, the advancement in both technology and social media that has occurred over our lifetime is tremendous. It is no new information to us as we have been here to live through it all. Not only that but also how far along AI has come and being able to use it in beneficial ways such as Chat GPT. Lastly, another thing that should take no one by surprise is how much social media plays a major part when it comes to marketing. From the ads we see as scrolling through Instagram and all social media platforms, to the commercials we see when watching tv (if you still have regular tv streaming such as DirectTV, YouTube TV, ect.).
