Marketing With Snapchat

Snapchat has become younger generations especially ages 18-24 daily communication app. With snapchat having the chat feature younger generations are more drawn to use this app as their way to text whoever they want. Not only that but it allows individuals to be able to send snap which basically are either photos or videos. It has gained more and more popularity over the years.

Snapchat was thought of by three Stanford University students who wanted to create an app with disappearing photos. Currently Evan Spiegel is the CEO and the last of the remaining founders still involved with the company. Flash forward to today, there are more than 406 million people that use snapchat daily and 750 million people monthly that are using snapchat to create over 4 billion snaps each day. In popularity ranking's Snapchat lands at the 10th spot for the social media platform.

Now let's discuss how Snapchat can be used from a marketing perspective. First let's start off with the best times to post are Friday and Saturday from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. Snapchat is a low - cost marketing tool that has a wide reach given the app is free to download and holds millions of active users each day. With Snapchats filters brands such as Tide, Doritos, and Gatorade can pay to have their own filter which brings attention to them. Not only that but with videos being so popular especially is the spotlight section it is easy for users to hop on trends and post them as well. Not only that but geo filters play a major role especially after you've taken a video for a trend. You can add a specific geo filter and if your repping a brand trend you can add a geo filter specifically representing them. Other features on the app that helps market is the visual search button which allows you to point your camera at an item you may be interested in and pops up shopping links for you. Following up with that snapchat users tend to be huge online buyers which makes it even better from a marketing standpoint.

With Snapchats various features and tools it generates a world filled with marketing. There are endless amounts of creative way that you can sell your brand on Snapchat and between all the filters, spotlight section, and geo filters you can market anything you want through several different features. Just remember Snapchat has gained high popularity with ages 18-24 so think about your target market.

Journey of Jaelynn

Today was the first day back at Ohio Northern University for spring semester. For me it will probably take me a few class days to get back in the swing of things as I took fall semester off and only had two online classes. However, I am very excited as I begin my time as a Marketing major. After I graduate from Ohio Northern I am hoping to put my Marketing degree in use in the Art field. Specifically in Art Galleries. Now personally I have no talent when it comes to drawing, painting, and generally all hands-on art that individuals can create. With that being said, even though I don't have that level of artistic ability I have always been drawn to it. To be able to look at certain pieces of art and try to find the true meaning behind each and every piece of artwork. When it comes to art, I love being able to hear how everyone's perspective on certain artworks. I find it beautiful how we all take in things differently and come up with differe...

Social Media's connection with Mental Health

Is there a connection between social media and mental health? The answer to that question is yes and as technology grows and social media platforms progress the more individuals are aware of the connection.      On a personal level I have first-hand come to realize how social media can affect one's mental health. I remember when I first got on social media, I was constantly comparing myself to other females on the platform and wished that I could look like how they did. Then I was fixated on how many likes I got on each of my posts. Social media was destroying my mental health and self-esteem day in and day out. I would constantly look at my phone to see if I had any notifications from someone trying to follow me or liking one of my posts. However, I made changes and over the years since then I have made sure to take time away from social media by completely deleting my accounts and refocusing in on me when I started to feel the negative impact again. Social media ...

The Social Dilemma

Let me introduce to you The Social Dilemma , a documentary that goes into the depths of the problems the world is facing with technology and social media. A compelling insight on the risks of addiction, mental health disorders when using social media.      Throughout the documentary it explores and dives into explaining how social media companies use algorithms in order to track their user's behavior and increase engagement. Former Facebook engineer Justin Rosenstein goes into depth how users are being sold to advertisers, and in a way, users are selling their attention away to them. Then Tristan Harris a former Google design ethicist goes in to explaining the addiction to social media platforms and the similarity it has between Vegas slot machines which are primarily designed to keep and maintain one's attention.      Another main topic that is focused on throughout the documentary is how misinformation has spread globally through thes...
