Marketing With TikTok

TikTok was founded in 2016 and created as a social media platform for short videos. TikTok has become one of the fastest growing media apps with having 100 million users within the first year and 1.56 billion users in 2024. Now, TikTok has become all the rage with constant dance trends and so much more and has even been brought up in the political world for security reasons. Needless to say, TikTok has grown substantially and is a wonderful way to market your business.

TikTok is primarily used by individuals ages 18 to 24 with males leading by 52% of the app’s users. Since 2016 TikTok has grown to be the 5th most popular social media platform. On this platform 38% of users have college degrees and or some form of college experience. Users on the app typically spend 95 minutes per day and around 34 hours per month. Now that is a lot of time spent on one social media app which is great for content creators and businesses. Following that the best days to post on the platform are  on Tuesdays through Thursdays and the worst day just like all social media platforms are Sundays. Now the best times to post are:

Tuesday: 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Wednesdays: 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Thursdays: 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The real question is, how can a business use TikTok for marketing. It all starts just like any other social media platform; you need to create a business and start creating to get discovered. The appeal of TikTok is the short videos and being able to use different filters, sounds, and various other features. A huge thing now is that you can create text posts which allows you to create a message made up of 1,000 characters and you can create customizable backgrounds, add music, and incorporate stickers within your text posts. With TikTok’s video content there are loads of features, from stickers, stories, duets, live videos, q&a’s, playlists, live effects and so much more. When having a business account, you need to produce a content strategy just like all platforms. Decide how you want your content page for your business to be seen. You can be serious yet creative or loose and fun and join on the trends. Whatever you decide to make sure your videos are engaging, incorporate sounds or music, create a branded filter, use hashtags, go live.

TikTok is not going anywhere and continues to grow in popularity so now is your time to hop on the app. There are endless amounts of features that you can use to your advantage to gain attention for your business. Marketing with TikTok is something all businesses should at least try and if it does not fit with your Business that is okay because at least you tried it.

Journey of Jaelynn

Today was the first day back at Ohio Northern University for spring semester. For me it will probably take me a few class days to get back in the swing of things as I took fall semester off and only had two online classes. However, I am very excited as I begin my time as a Marketing major. After I graduate from Ohio Northern I am hoping to put my Marketing degree in use in the Art field. Specifically in Art Galleries. Now personally I have no talent when it comes to drawing, painting, and generally all hands-on art that individuals can create. With that being said, even though I don't have that level of artistic ability I have always been drawn to it. To be able to look at certain pieces of art and try to find the true meaning behind each and every piece of artwork. When it comes to art, I love being able to hear how everyone's perspective on certain artworks. I find it beautiful how we all take in things differently and come up with differe...

Social Media's connection with Mental Health

Is there a connection between social media and mental health? The answer to that question is yes and as technology grows and social media platforms progress the more individuals are aware of the connection.      On a personal level I have first-hand come to realize how social media can affect one's mental health. I remember when I first got on social media, I was constantly comparing myself to other females on the platform and wished that I could look like how they did. Then I was fixated on how many likes I got on each of my posts. Social media was destroying my mental health and self-esteem day in and day out. I would constantly look at my phone to see if I had any notifications from someone trying to follow me or liking one of my posts. However, I made changes and over the years since then I have made sure to take time away from social media by completely deleting my accounts and refocusing in on me when I started to feel the negative impact again. Social media ...

How do you spend you weekends? Well for me  this past weekend was packed full to say the least. Starting off the weekend with Friday I began with my classes; I had my Principles of Marketing at ten o'clock and then ended my class day with Geo Analytics at eleven o'clock. Following that I drove back home to Findlay which is only roughly a twenty-five minute drive taking a mix of back roads and the high way. I had a couple hours of downtime before I had to be at work at Texas Roadhouse. I was scheduled to work at six but if you know me you know I like to show up early for my shifts so I arrived to work about fifteen minutes early. Then after work one of my friends came into town so I spent time with him and we were able to catch up on life and everything. Immediately after spending time with him I went straight home and went to bed. Saturday then came way to soon and I was awaken bright and early by my baby sister who had asked me to make her ...
