The Week before Dead Week

We have finally made it to the last few weeks of the spring semester! As dead week approaches us next week there is so much work and fun to have. This week classes are wrapping up their last few chapters and taking one more exam before finals week. It is hard to believe how fast this semester has come and gone.

For me personally this week has been filled with finishing up projects to be ready to present next week, and of course exams. This week I only had three exams which is not bad by any means however it was rough having two on the same day. On Wednesday I had both Principles of Marketing and Legal Environment exams and today I have Principles of social media. On the bright side after my exams on Wednesday I went and grabbed ice cream with my best friend and her boyfriend at Whippy Dip. Then after that I went back to the library to study and work on some last-minute homework assignments. Following that I left Ada to go to Lima around 7:30 to go to Regal American Mall movie theatre in Lima to watch the new Sinners movie. I of course personally wanted to watch it because Michael B. Jordan plays twins in the movie but also because as more and more clips of the movie popped up on my Instagram, I knew it was a movie that I had to see and could not wait till it came out on streaming services like Prime Video. After watching the movie, I was stunned by all that I had just seen happen throughout it. I was left with so many questions and comments about everything. Questions regarding to what happened during the major time gap? Did they turn anyone else over the years? What was the budget of the movie? So many questions that some yes, I can look up and find the others to but others I must use my imagination on what I think happened based on everything I saw throughout the movie. Overall, it was a good movie, and I enjoyed it a lot despite certain parts grossing me out. Now on the other hand going to see the new Sinners movie is not the only enjoyment I am having this week. On Friday I am venturing back to Skully's Music Diner in Columbus for another rave this time their theme is Video Games. I truthfully do not know what to expect with a theme like that, but I am sure to make the most out of it and to have fun.

All in all, it has come to the time to stay focused and work hard as we finish these last few weeks of the semester but also have fun because we have successfully made it to the end of Spring 2025. So many memories made and so many new opportunities granted.

Social Media's connection with Mental Health

Is there a connection between social media and mental health? The answer to that question is yes and as technology grows and social media platforms progress the more individuals are aware of the connection.      On a personal level I have first-hand come to realize how social media can affect one's mental health. I remember when I first got on social media, I was constantly comparing myself to other females on the platform and wished that I could look like how they did. Then I was fixated on how many likes I got on each of my posts. Social media was destroying my mental health and self-esteem day in and day out. I would constantly look at my phone to see if I had any notifications from someone trying to follow me or liking one of my posts. However, I made changes and over the years since then I have made sure to take time away from social media by completely deleting my accounts and refocusing in on me when I started to feel the negative impact again. Social media ...

The Social Dilemma

Let me introduce to you The Social Dilemma , a documentary that goes into the depths of the problems the world is facing with technology and social media. A compelling insight on the risks of addiction, mental health disorders when using social media.      Throughout the documentary it explores and dives into explaining how social media companies use algorithms in order to track their user's behavior and increase engagement. Former Facebook engineer Justin Rosenstein goes into depth how users are being sold to advertisers, and in a way, users are selling their attention away to them. Then Tristan Harris a former Google design ethicist goes in to explaining the addiction to social media platforms and the similarity it has between Vegas slot machines which are primarily designed to keep and maintain one's attention.      Another main topic that is focused on throughout the documentary is how misinformation has spread globally through thes...

Gathering Apartment Supplies

As my graduation date gets closer, I have taken the liberty to start searching for furniture and supplies I will need come time to look for an apartment. I graduate December of 2026. Which yes is over a year away but for the last couple years I have slowly gathered things for an apartment. The way I see it is I would rather collect thing's now for it now and not having to worry about buying all this stuff once I officially have an apartment. Also, because most of the things I am collecting have been free. Meaning I have gotten thing's for my apartment for my birthday and for Christmas. My family has helped me retain items for my apartment to allow me to save up as much money as I possibly can.      So far, I have glass plates, a kitchen table, Tv, silverware, cooking pans, crockpots, a couch, cooking sheets, cutting boards, plastic bowls and plates, a Tv stand, desk, cube shelf. When you list everything out it seems like a lot but in reality, th...
